Bristol Township Acting Chief of Police Sgt. Ralph Johnson said the man engaged in the standoff with police is believed to have numerous weapons inside the Ice Pond Road home officers have surrounded.
The suspect’s 90-year-old mother, who is on hospice, is also believed to be in the house, Johnson said.

The suspect is believed to be suffering from a mental health issue, police said.
No shots have been fired as of 1:30 a.m.

A standoff with a man believed to be armed and barricaded inside a house started late Friday night and continued into early Saturday morning.
The incident unfolded in Bristol Township’s Indian Creek section in Levittown.

As of 12:30 a.m., the standoff continued, and the Indian Creek neighborhood was filled with dancing red and blue lights from police cruisers. The incident started around 10 p.m., according to a fire official at the scene.
What sparked incident wasn’t initially known, but police were at the scene for at least 20 minutes before SWAT operators from multiple townships were summoned to the address on Ice Pond Road.

SWAT teams along with a K-9 unit moved toward Ice Pond Road shortly after 11:30 p.m.
Residents in the area of Ice Pond Road were told to shelter in place during the standoff.

A temporary shelter for those displaced by the standoff opened at the Bristol Township Senior Center on Bath Road.
As of 12:30 a.m., an official said SWAT team members were trying to evacuate residents hunkered down inside their homes on Ice Pond Road.
An armored Lenco BearCat truck from Doylestown was brought to the scene along with numerous SWAT vehicles from across Lower Bucks County. Support trucks from the Bucks County 9-1-1 Center in Ivyland were also at the scene.

A large amount of concerned residents braved the cold to watch the police activity just off Emilie Road.
