Trying to flee district court following your arraignment for an alleged DUI accident is never a good idea. One man is accused of doing it last week.

Middletown Township police say Ryan Beitz, 29, of Bristol Township’s Croydon section, first drove off from an accident at the Shoppes of Flowers Mill shopping center last Thursday and then fled to the car dealerships along Lincoln Highway.

Court papers say the 29 year old’s damaged car was located along with his child in a car dealership showroom. Beitz exited the dealership bathroom and was taken into custody. Inside, police found heroin in a trashcan, according to court documents.
While at District Judge John Kelly’s courthouse on Trenton Road for arraignment on charges including endangering the welfare of a child, accident involving damage to an attended vehicle and multiple counts of DUI, Beitz took off from the court, police said.
An officer chased Beitz down and was able to Taser him to bring him into custody again, police said.

Beitz will likely be facing additional charges related to the escape attempt, police said.
Beitz was sent to Bucks County prison on 10 percent of $150,000.
