Elcon Recycling, the Israeli company that stood before Falls residents regarding their plans to treat liquid waste from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, last week has canceled their second impending meeting with the public.
The meeting originally scheduled for January 8 at 6 p.m. as an informational meeting will be rescheduled sometime during the month of February. That date has not been set as of press time.

Elcon drew quite a crowd last week when they provided residents with information on their application process with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Residents from both sides of the river raised numerous concerns about the long-term effects of having such a plant so close to home. The property Elcon hopes to utilize is in the Keystone Industrial Port Complex.
While a public hearing was held December 10 so residents could state their approval or disapproval for the record, the deadline is quickly approaching for those interested in providing a statement in writing. As stated by the DEP, public testimony is taken into consideration during the phase I process.
