Fitzpatrick, Strouse To Square off At BCCC Congressional Debate

The second of three scheduled debates between incumbent Republican Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick and Democratic challenger Kevin Strouse will take place Thurday at Bucks County Community College’s Lower Bucks Campus  beginning at 12:15 p.m.  It’s the only “official” debate between the two men in Lower Bucks County.

Bristol’s Bill Pezza will serve as the debates moderator, as he’s done for a number of  years. Pezza is a member of the college’s Behavioral Sciences Department teaching history and political science at the college.

Pezza said six topics would be covered during the debate ranging from economic, socials, to foreign policy issues.

Each candidate will have a two minute opening statement prior to answering the questions posed by Pezza.

Each candidate will also be allowed a closing statement also as they make their final pitches for votes with 12 days left before votes head to the polls on Election Day.

In late July when both campaigns agreed to the debate at  Bucks, each told LevittownNow they were looking forward to the face off.

Fitzpatrick, who is from Levittown, is leading the race, according to a number of nationally published polls.

Campaign Coordinator for Fitzpatrick, Sam Bolstien said in July: “”Mike looks forward to a campaign focused on the issues and thanks our hosts for providing this forum to talk about our country’s future.”

Strouse on a rainy Mill Street in Bristol Borough Wednesday said that he was looking forward to the debate and was ready to make his pitch to the voters of the district.

The debate is open to the public, according to college officials with which seats about 180 people. Overflow crowds will be able to view the debate through closed circuit televisions in classrooms, college officials said.
