Vendors and patrons pushed through a rainy Saturday to make Historic Fallsington Day a success.
The event, typically running on the second Saturday in October every year, had a rough start when rain refused to let up, and when it finally did, left a damp feeling on the event.

“We had a very wet start,” said Kathleen Hannigan, a vendor selling various pieces of jewelery. According to Hannigan, traffic picked up at the festival around 1:30 p.m.
Joe, carrying a giant stuffed animal as a present for his cousin, noted: “It’s a fun place to be, it’s always fun coming back here.”
“I had a better day than I expected,” said Jan Bear. “I was delighted that so many people came out to support the show,” finished Bear, a vendor who has been attending the festival for many years.

One patron, Thomas Gerace, noted that some usual stands were missing, but that the event itself was “cool and really fun.”
“We like it a lot,” remarked Anthony Pinto, who recently moved to Fallsington with his family. “It’s good to see so many people out here.” Pinto commented on the rain and the success of the event as well, saying “I don’t think the rain detered too many people.”

This sentiment was not unanimous, however.
“It’s not like other years because of the rain,” said Eddie Fischer. “They shouldn’t have it when [the weather] is like this.”
Fischer is a long-time resident of Fallsington, and noted that had he not been able to walk to the event, the rain would have persuaded him to stay home.

Fallsington, which began as a Quaker community in the 1600’s, still features the same uniquely American architecture and small town values that encapsulated it hundreds of years ago.
