October is Fire Prevention Month, and one of the bigger events connected to the nationwide month of awareness in the Lower Bucks County area is the event at Edgely Fire Company in Bristol Township.

The two-part Fire Prevention event is set to begin Friday morning at 7 a.m. sharp with a firefighter skills competition at “Ten House,” located at 1200 Edgely Road. The morning features 94.5 WPST host Shinn broadcasting live from the fire house with Billy D’s BBQ offering up breakfast.
After the morning event, the volunteers of the fire company will take the message of fire safety to the kids of the community as firefighters from Edgley make visits to reinforce fire safety in some Bristol Township schools.
The evening portion of the fire prevention day kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at the Edgely Road station. The large event will feature vendors, demonstrations, K-9 displays, raffles, a caricature artist and more.

Chief Carl Pierce said he believes there is nothing more important the company can do for the community it serves than to teach residents how to prevent fires.
Pierce stressed the importance of teaching fire prevention to the children and families of the community is a job all the firefighters at the station take very seriously.

Mixing fire prevention with community-oriented events for families that have fun involved makes it an effective teaching tool, the chief said.
Pierce said its a rain or shine event and there will be plenty of tents to shelter the public from the rain, He encouraged the public to wear hoodies just in case it does rain.

Pierce also hoped the public would also jump on board with a new initiative the fire company is supporting this year. The fire company is supporting the fight against childhood cancer by joining Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Captain Adam Ashwell said the company hopes to raise $2,000 to add to the fight adding that looking out for the kids with cancer is something close to heart for the fire company. To donate click here
