A young man was injured Friday evening after he jumped off a building.

The 18-year-old man was rushed to St. Mary Medical Center by medics around 6:45 p.m. after he jumped off the former Kmart building on East Lincoln Highway, Middletown Township Chief of Police Joseph Bartorilla said.

The young man was reported to police about an hour earlier after he posted a comment on social media about harming himself.
Officers and other first responders rushed to the area near the Sam’s Club where the young man works, police said.
After a search of the area near the Sam’s Club, he was found on the roof of the Kmart and jumped when police spotted him, police said.

Bartorilla said police were investigating how the young man gained access to the roof.
Initial reports indicated the 18 year old was a high school student and from either Bensalem or Lower Southampton.

A large amount of police and fire vehicles were reported at the scene.
First responders were spotted using ladders to access the roof.
