Firefighters from the Third District Fire Company were called to pop open a door to free the trapped man, police said.

Medics transported the man to Aria’s Health’s Toresdale campus, and he is expected to survive. Sgt. Thomas Gaffney said the man suffered a head wound from slamming into the windshield and a knee injury.

The exact cause of the medical emergency that triggered the crashes was not released.
