SEPTA recently publicly unveiled its new campaign regarding passenger manners.
The campaign, called โDude it’s Rude,โ is attempting to use a direct communication means in order to positively influence the manners of Septa riders, according to the release.

Previously, SEPTA has tried more indirect messages to tell passengers of specific travel concerns. These light messages used cartoon characters and light messages, a property missing from the new campaign, which has been described as an โedgierโ and more direct approach to the matter.
The campaign will be using images, and minimize the usage of words, to make the message simpler and more effective, according to a press release made by SEPTA.
“Initial comments from our Customer Service Channels have been positive,” said SEPTA General Manager Joseph Casey. “Customers appreciate our efforts to tackle the issues that bug them such as seat hogging. We will continue to monitor customer and employee comments for feedback.”

“Dude, it’s Rudeโ ads have been appearing for months, but SEPTA has just recently officially announced the campaign in a public space. According to the press release, SEPTA has left its name and logo from the ads in an attempt to show the message, without telling the message where the public comes from.
