Man Found with Pills After Alleged Drug Deal, Cops Say


Authorities apprehended a suspect on drug charges outside of the BP gas station in Penndel, earlier this month, according to court documents.

The suspect, Steven Hopkins, 56, of Morrisville, matched the description of a man involved in a drug deal that took place one block away at Penndel Pizza, said the probable cause affidavit.

Upon making a furtive gesture, Hopkins was asked to empty his pockets, said official documents as they interviewed him on September 5.

Hopkins was detained after removing a needle, for the officer’s safety, said the probable cause affidavit.

Upon completing the task of emptying his pockets, Hopkins produced an aspirin vial that contained โ€œXanax,โ€ however, Hopkins denied ownership, saying the pills belonged to a friend of his, said court papers.

Hopkins admitted to being at Penndel Pizza and conversing with the other unidentified man, but said he had not made any type of transaction with him, said the probable cause affidavit.

Police said there were a total of 83 pills in the container.

Hopkins is being charged with manufacturing, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, possession of controlled substance, and two counts of the use or possession of drug paraphernalia. Hopkin’s bail was set at $2,500.
