Last weekend, the Falls Township Republicans didn’t let rain damper their annual pig roast as hundreds turned out for the outdoor event.
Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8) and candidate for the state house in the 31st legislative district David W. Gibbon were among a host of local Republican dignitaries on hand.
Children and families danced, face painted as plenty of political talk went on during the event. Republicans from Morrisville and Falls, among others, discussed issues of interest as they combine efforts moving towards Election Day.

The highlight of the evening, besides the outstanding food and cold beer served up, was the awarding of the Gordon C. Cumberland Person of the Year Award which went to former Morrisville Councilwoman Jane Burger.
According to organizers candidacy for the award is based a community commitment that improves the area or on documented experience in some activity(s) that improves or lives of people in and around Falls Township.
This year’s winner, Jane Burger was selected because of her tireless commitment to improving Morrisville borough and her work on the Morrisville Borough Education Foundation, said event organizers.
Fitzpatrick presented the award and then haled Burger for her work in the community.
After many years in poliics and specifically serving Morrisville Borough Council she established herself as a person who worked for the borough instead of special interests, he said.
Burger’s professional career was spent as a social worker for the state of New Jersey.
