The Kevin Strouse campaign and his supporters met in front of Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School on Mill Creek Road in Levittown on Tuesday for a rally/press conference geared at celebrating the 94th anniversary of the passing of the 19th amendment.
The amendment is largely known as the culmination of the Women’s Suffrage Movement, leading to a woman’s right to vote.

Strouse, Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania’s 8th district, was joined by County Commissioner Diane Marseglia, State Senate Candidate Kimberly Rose, as well as his wife Amy, all of which spoke of the importance of women and their equal treatment regarding pay, quality education and birth control.
“Just before I came here today, my daughter said, that’s ridiculous that we still have to talk about this issue of women’s rights,” Marseglia stated as she approached the platform. “Bucks County deserves a representative that is not going to play politics with the women of this county.”
Strouse who is running against incumbent Republican Mike Fitzpatrick, has said that if elected, he will oppose any legislation that limits funding for Planned Parenthood, stating that women have a right to make the most intimate decisions about their own body with their doctor.

“Personally for me, what this is all about is knowing that my daughter Charlotte will be given the same opportunities as my son Wally,” Strouse said.
