A couple is accused of stealing merchandise with their two young children in tow.

Jamie Kraftchick, 23, and Brian Barber, 29, both of Falls Township, were arrest last Thursday afternoon after police say they stole roughly $225 in merchandise from the Home Depot in the township.

Home Depot staff called police around 3:48 p.m. to report a retail theft. Police were advised the suspects were not running from the store.
According to court papers, an officer found the couple in the parking lot of the Sheraton Hotel.
The Home Depot loss prevention officer told police he watched the couple walk into the store with a large purse hanging from the rear of a shopping cart. The employee then watched Barber and Kraftchick concealed $225.22 worth of items from in the purse. The couple, who were with their children, walked past all points of sale without paying, court papers say.

As the Home Depot employee tried to confront the couple, Kraftchick stopped and Barer began to run, court papers say. A short time later, Barber ran toward the loss prevention officer “and used both arms to combatively push him away from co-defendant Kraftchick,” police said.
The push caused the loss prevention officer to fall and let the suspect make off on foot, police said.

Court papers say the couple were taken into custody, but do not mention what happened to the children.
The couple were both charged with robbery, conspiracy, retail theft, receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment and related offenses. The couple were released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
