The House Democratic Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on heroin and opiate abuse in Bristol Township this week.

State Rep. Tina Davis (D-Bucks) will serve as co-chairperson along with House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla (D-Lancaster) at the hearing that will run from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday inside the Ben Franklin Middle School auditorium in Levittown.

“Heroin- and opiate-related incidents and deaths have increased sharply, destroying families and straining health agency and law enforcement resources,” Davis said in a statement. “Thursday’s hearing will begin the conversation on how to tackle addiction problems on a community level.”
The hearing follows efforts by local, county and state law enforcement to curb drug problems that plague the area.
