Lt. Brendan Triplett, 32, of Souderton, pleaded no contest to charges involving the alleged assault of a female inmate and witnesses intimidation. The no contest plea means Triplett does not accept or deny responsibility for the charges. An article in the Perkasie News Herald newspaper says sentencing for Triplett will be in mid-September.

Triplett, a military veteran, was arrested in late fall 2013 on charges that he touched a female inmate’s vagina with his fingers, exposed his penis to her and then she masturbated him during Columbus Day weekend in October at the woman’s facility in Doylestown Township, according to court papers filed.
County detectives spoke with a witness who told them she believed saw the alleged sexual contact between the lieutenant and the inmate.
The witness told detectives she was contacted by Triplett, who told her not to tell anyone what she saw and to withhold or provide misleading information about the incident.

Triplett’s attorney Nino Tinari told the newspaper his client took the plea deal to move on with his life. He added he hopes Triplett can “overcome the stigma.”
