While celebrating the housing of a new rescue truck at the Edgely Fire Company late Saturday afternoon, the call of a reported fire in a Mill Street apartment went out over the air.
First responders from Bristol Borough and Third District Fire Company arrived on the scene within minutes of the alert going out around 4:30 p.m.

Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack said, “the small fire was contained to a closet” in an apartment over the Cafe Bombay restaurant on the 200 block of Mill St.
Crowds watched as firefighters knocked out the flames quickly in the apartment.
Slack said the fire started due to an incandescent light being surrounded by clothing, thus igniting the fire.

The businesses and property owners below and to the right and left of the property were safe from any harm produced by the fire.
No injuries were reported and first responders were busy packing up their gear soon after the fire was reported.

“Everyone gets to go home safely,” a woman looking on said to her female friend.
Slack said fire damage were limited and contained to the closet space in the apartment overlooking the merchant district of Bristol Borough.
