Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8) visited local business owners and employees in Bristol Borough last Tuesday to discuss challenges among the small businessย spectrum.

The recent visit to businesses in Bristol Borough are part of Fitzpatrick’s annual ‘100 Businesses in 100 Days’ tour. The tour allows him to have the opportunity to hear firsthand how local businesses areย sustainingย jobs, increasing opportunity for area families, and to learnย how government can further empower them.

โ€œWhen I walked into workplaces in Bristol today and spoke with the owners and employees, peopleย didn’tย want to talk politics โ€“ they wantedย to talk about a vision of an America that helps their companies and families get ahead,โ€ย said Fitzpatrick.ย โ€œWe need to invest in our communities โ€“ Iโ€™m confident thatโ€™s whatโ€™s being done here in Bristol, and I will continue to do my part to sustain that growth.โ€

“Speaking with local businesses face to face is just another extension of the Fitzpatrick campaign to understand ways to bring local business traffic to the borough and surrounding areas. Last April, Fitzpatrick announced a $1.5 million federal grant to construct a public access pier as well as docks on the Bristol waterfront. Construction of the floating docks is set to begin later this month with a number of ย residents looking forward to the economic possibilities and potentialities the finished project could bring to the borough, officials have consistently said.

Fitzpatrick hopes the docks project ย will bolster existing ย businesses while increasing ย the public’s access to the abundance of recreation possibilities there and attract other new businesses to Mill Street, ย in the heart of the borough’s merchant district.

โ€œSmall businesses โ€“ like those in Bristol โ€“ are at the heart of our economy and our communities. For the families who own them, and the workers they employ, theyโ€™re more than a statistic โ€“ they are the embodiment of an America where hard work pays off,โ€ย said Fitzpatrick.ย โ€œIn talking with these business owners and employees, Iโ€™m hearing more and more about the need for legislation that empowers them to succeed; things like reducing regulatory burdens that raise prices and cost time, creating a flatter, fairer tax code that leaves more money for families, and representatives focused on their success, not politics as usual.โ€

The congressman’s ‘100 Businesses in 100 Days’ tour hits all areas of the district in Bucks and northern Montgomery counties.
