Police say it was pretty routine, but a witness called the actions of a Bristol Township police officer last week heroic.
Sgt. Ralph Johnson was called to the parking lot of the Rite Aid on New Falls Road last Thursday for a child locked in a car. Moments later, according to a witness, the lawman was able to use a baton to break the window of the car and take the young child out.

Acting Chief of Police Lt. John Godzieba said Johnson responded to reports a woman was locked out of her car with a child still inside. Johnson arrived and received the woman’s permission to break the window to the car after a lockout tool did not work.
The child was unhurt after being in the car for short period of time, Godzeiba said. The witness, who requested to remain anonymous, said the child appeared safe but was sweaty after being pulled from the car.
For local police, the incident appeared to be just another day on the job.
