An 18-year-old man was arrested Friday for an assault that left one person injured near the Middletown and Penndel border.

According to police, officers from Middletown and Penndel were called the area of Cypress Avenue in the Langhorne section of town for an assault and struck pedestrian.

A Penndel officer was already on scene and relayed to Middletown police that two men said John Ferketich of Langhorne had attacked one of them with a metal pipe and then chased them down in his pickup, striking one of the men, according to court papers. The man who was allegedly hit by the bumper of Ferketich’s pickup truck suffered numerous injuries and was taken to St. Mary Medical Center for treatment by the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad.
The incident all started when the man who was injured and Ferketich reportedly got in a physical fight at the 18-year-old’s house on Parkview Avenue. The fight escalated to the pipe attack and the victim got away on foot, police said.
As the victim and the other man walked in the 700 block of Bellevue Avenue, Ferketich, who was behind the wheel of a 1990 Ford pickup, drove roughly 75 to 100 feet off the roadway and tried to run down the two, striking the one man, police said in court documents.

Middletown Officer William Gredone noted in arrest papers that Ferketich appeared under the influence of alcohol.
The man who was struck suffered multiple contusions and a large lump on the side of his head.

Ferketich was charged Friday morning with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and single counts of purchase of alcohol by a minor, simple assault, careless driving and reckless driving. He was arraigned by District Judge Daniel Baranoski and was able to post 10 percent of $35,000 bail.
