Matthew Cavada, 29 of Pemberton, N.J., was arrested Tuesday across the river on charges of child pornography, dissemination of child pornography and criminal use of communication facility, Penndel police Chief Joseph Sciscio told LevittownNow.com. Cavada reportedly waived his right to extradition on Wednesday and will be arraigned on the Bucks County charges in the coming days.

According to police, Sciscio’s investigation began last fall and centered on two downloads of video files showing young girls engaging in sex acts. The files were allegedly downloaded to a computer based in a house on Friendly Lane in Bristol Township’s Levittown section.

Tracking the computer using its globally unique identifier, Sciscio said he found out later in fall and winter that the computer was in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. The chief added he found out in winter that Cavada was a member of the Air Force and was deployed in the Middle East.

“On May 22, upon his return from deployment, Burlington (County authorities) executed a search warrant at Cavada’s residence,” Sciscio, a member of the  FBI’s Crimes Against Children Task Force, said. He added that authorities recovered evidence during that search which allowed him to file charges locally.

New Jersey authorities charged Cavada in late May with possessing child pornography and making it available online for others to download.

Cavada, who was stationed out of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst but lived off base, was a resident of the Friendly Lane home in September and had a laptop and internet, according to court papers.

While Sciscio was engaged in his investigation, special agents from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations Detachment 307 from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, and detectives from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit, the Pemberton Township Police Department, and the Westampton Township Police Department were actively investigating Cavada.
