Students milled around the elaborate decorations inside the high school as Morse took in the experience that is Pennsbury Prom almost unnoticed. The over 6-foot-tall actor with a camera slung around his neck seemed nearly invisible to the students at the prom.

The actor and Philadelphia-area resident confirmed to LevittownNow.com that he is interested in directing a film based on Pennsbury’s prom.
The film has a script and is actively searching for financing, writer Michael Bamberger said. Bamberger wrote the 2005 book “Wonderland: A Year in the Life of an American High School,” which told the real life story of the students who brought John Mayer to Pennsbury’s prom. One of the stories featured in the book is that of then-student Bob Costa, who is now a reporter for the Washington Post.
Bamberger, who has been back to the prom several times since the book was released, said the script tales a fictionalized account of a group of students pulling together a Pennsbury-like prom. The students work to get a “John Mayer type,” who has become “too big for his britches,” to come back to the high school he graduated for a prom night performance. The story also features the death of a popular classmate and how the teens deal with his passing.

“There is always tinkering that can be done,” Bamberger said of the script.
“Wonderland” was previously optioned by a film studio several years ago, but that project did not materialize.

Whether the movie will be produced depends on if financing for the project can be found.
