Michael Speranza, 37, of Philadelphia, was charged Monday night with two counts of burglary, stalking, harassment and criminal trespass. He was arraigned before District Judge John Waltman and is currently free on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
According to police, Speranza broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment twice in March. In one case he left yellow post-it notes with things like “Wish you were here” and “I’ll keep you warm” while she wasn’t home. The second incident involved Speranza entering through a bedroom window uninvited and waking her up, police said.
Police said the woman first reported the stalking to them in April. She claimed the stalking started two months after her and Speranza ended their five-month relationship. An officer warned Speranza he would be charged if he did not stop contacting the woman.
Following the contact with police, court papers show Speranza continued to text and call the woman.
The final incident before Speranza’s arrest happened last week. According to court papers, Speranza contacted one of his ex-girlfriend’s co-workers and texted her saying he was contacting her to prove he could still keep an eye on his ex. Speranza also sent a screenshot showing that he hacked into his ex-girlfriend’s Facebook account.
Penndel Chief of Police Joseph Sciscio assisted Langhorne Chief of Police Steven Mawhinney in downloading the woman’s phone data that showed Speranza’s contacts with her.
Speranza is set to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge Daniel Baranoski early next month.
