According to court papers, Furey ran into his mother’s bedroom when police came to the house. He told officers his mother had nothing to do with the drugs and stated, “I’m sorry, mom.”
Police wrote in court papers that they found nine bundles of heroin and several loose bags under his mother’s mattress. They added that a Tootsie Roll change bank was discovered in a drawer.
The heroin packets were stamped with the brand name of “Viper” and their street value was about $1,400, police said.
