It sounds like a 32-year-old Bristol Township man thought his Hyundai Sonata was a race car.

Rafael Catala, 32, of Bristol Township’s Levittown section, is accused of leading police on a chase through in March.

According to police, the tires of Catala’s car screeched as he exited the parking lot of the Wawa on Emilie Road at 3:15 a.m. on March 17. Catala stopped his 2013 white Sonata in the middle of Emilie Road and stared at Officer James Tully before zooming off.
Court papers say that police engaged in a chase with their overhead lights on. The car was traveling at more than 70 MPH and entered the Goldenridge section of town, police said. The 32-year-old is accused of making a “reckless” U-turn during the chase.
Police followed Catala and his Sonata to his home in the 300 block of Goldenridge Drive where he ran inside, court papers say. Officers tried to get Catala to come out but he reportedly yelled “f–k you” and other slurs. The officers, according to court paperwork, left and filed a warrant for Catala a day later.
