The ย accident that occurred at inbound exit 40 on I-95 southbound Saturday night in which the driver was killed had alcohol involved,ย state police say.

According to state authorities, the driver, Brian Mellor, 37, of Philadelphia, “was drinking prior to the crash” and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told state police Mellor may have been “illegally racing” a black Jaguar prior to attempting a lane change where he lost control of his vehicle around 6:30 p.m. traveling the on ramp of exit 40,ย authorities say.
First responders when arriving on scene reported Mellor was entrapped in his 2003 Mustang, removed him from the vehicle that went off the road sideways hitting a pole and then a tree in a wooded area off the highway before stopping.
A number of LevittownNow.com readers described the scene as a “mess” also reporting seeing a body with a yellow cover on it.
