A Bristol Township man was arrested Thursday after police say he robbed a bank in Bensalem.
Joseph Keiper, 29, is accused of walking into the PNC Bank in the 3700 block of Hulmeville Road around 10:15 a.m. Thursday and passing a demand note reading, “give me $500.00 cash now.”

Keiper – who wore several hoodies and was believed to be a female by bank staff – gathered over $2,700 from the teller and got away, according to court papers.
What Keiper didn’t know is that a GPS tracking chip was slipped in with the cash.
Bensalem police responded to the bank and were alerted the tracker was with the money. The GPS device “was emitting a precise location at which time Bensalem police patrol officers responded to that location,” court papers filed by detectives read.

A Bensalem officer spotted a vehicle in the area the GPS tracker last sent a signal and Keiper was taken from the vehicle, police said. As the 29-year-old was taken from the car, “several individually wrapped bundles of money fell out of the subject’s jacket, court papers say.
Keiper, according to scanner reports, made it into Philadelphia before being caught.

A teller positively identified Keiper as the suspect and survalliance photos from the bank matched, authorities said.
Keiper was arraigned on charges of robbery, receiving stolen property, terroristic threats and theft. He was remanded to county prison on 10 percent of $500,000 bail.
