A 30-year-old Bensalem was charged with killing his mother.
Koustantinos Yiambilis was charged Tuesday afternoon with criminal homicide, risking a catastrophe, recklessly endangering another person and related offenses. He was arraigned bedside at the hospital where he will remain under guard until he is able to be transported to Bucks County prison in Doylestown.

“Preliminary investigation found that Koustantinos intentionally caused the death of his mother by utilizing a portable generator,” Bensalem police said.
According to authoritites, first responders were called to the Longmeadow Apartments in the 3000 block of Bristol Road around 11:25 p.m. on Monday for reports of fumes coming from the interior of the apartment.
“Responding Bensalem police officers and fire personnel from Newport and Nottingham fire companies banged on the door and windows before Koustantinos Yiambilis opened the door,” police said in a release.

Yiambilis told officers one other person was inside and they discovered 59-year-old Karen Yiambilis lying unconscious on the bedroom floor, police said.
Karen Yiambilis was transported to Aria Torresdale Hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

Police said Koustantinos Yiambilis was taken to the hospital for “evaluation and treatment,” but did not say the extent of his injuries.
Four nearby apartments were evacuated and were displaced for several hours, police said.
Bensalem police, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and Bensalem Fire Rescue are conducting the investigation.

Koustantinos Yiambilis is being held without bail.
