A manager at a local veterinary office recently won an award and donated her winnings.
Kristen Hoffman, veterinarian practice manager for the Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Clinic (VSEC) in Levittown, recently donated money she won as part of Petplan pet insurance’s 2014 “Practice Manager of the Year Award” to PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) in Philadelphia. Hoffman was one of three finalist for the award and one of 3,100 nominations.

“Ms. Hoffman was selected for her dedication and commitment to her team and to the pet patients that visit VSEC. Ms. Hoffman makes it a priority to learn more about her colleagues, leading to a more efficient and teamwork based environment at VSEC. She is also committed to furthering her education by attending CE lectures and conventions as much as possible,” according to information from Petplan.
PAWS will use the money as they start a capital campaign aimed at opening up the shelter’s third facility, an adoption center and low-cost wellness clinic in Northeast Philadelphia. PAWS is working to make Philadelphia a no-kill city.
Hoffman and the other finalists and one guest were flown, compliments of Petplan, to Las Vegas for the Petplan Veterinary Excellence Awards dinner last month.
