Brush fires fueled by the roaring winds Wednesday kept local firefighters busy.
Crews across the Levittown area were busy fighting back several brush fires, which Langhorne-Middletown Fire Chief Frank Farry said were “stubborn.”

He said his crews and the William Penn Fire Company were called around lunchtime to a grassy area near the Oxford Valley Mall and the Sesame Place parking lot for a brush fire. An area of roughly six-foot-tall grass burned until firefighters dumped about 1,500 gallons of water on it, Farry said. In total, crews were at the scene for about 45 minutes.
Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company crews were next called to the area of Old Route 13 and West Philadelphia Avenue in Falls and Morrisville for another brush fire. This time, according to scanner reports, fire burnt through brush in the area of the train tracks and was eventually put out by crews from Falls, Morrisville and surrounding towns.
Brush fires are known to quickly spread when windy and dry conditions are prevalent.
