A Tullytown Borough resident was thanked for his actions last month during the ice storm that impacted the area.

Tullytown Fire Department Chief Rick Johnson presented Lilac Lane resident Ben Jarnutowski with a letter of thanks at the most recent borough council meeting.

Johnson said firefighters stayed outside a home on Lavender Lane for 19 hours after they responded to a wires down call on February 5. The downed electric wires charged a fence in the backyard of the home and posed a safety hazard.

Jarnutowski brought first responders hot coffee and beef strew as they “babysat” the electrified chain link fence in the sub-freezing weather until PECO could get a crew to the scene.

Tullytown officials recently thanked all borough residents for their cooperation during the recent winter storms.
