Tullytown to Work with State Police to Step Up Speed Enforcement

Tullytown police are working with the Pennsylvania State Police to stop speeders in the borough.

Starting sometime soon, Tullytown officers will be conducting speed enforcement details in school zones and along Main Street with the help of state police operating radar guns to track those with lead feet, Chief of Police Daniel Doyle said.

In Pennsylvania, no municipal or city police departments can use speed radar guns, which is opposite of every other state in the nation. Only the Pennsylvania State Police can operate the handheld radars.

Doyle said his goal is to educate drivers to obey the posted speed limit, especially in school zones where young children could be crossing the road.

The chief said the message is simple: slow down!
