PennDOT has announced nighttime traffic restrictions set for this week on Route 1 between South Bellevue Avenue in Langhorne and I-95 in Middletown.

Crews will work Monday through Thursday to place concrete barriers. The left lane will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next morning. The lane closure will also extend from 9 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday.

The work is part of a project to replace the three-span, pre-stressed box beam bridge over Maple Avenue. The reconstruction project will realign the Route 1 ramps to Maple Avenue, resurface the roadway approaches and ramps, install glare screens on the median barrier and upgrade drainage systems.

During the project, the speed limit along the highway was been reduced in the work zone.

The work on the nearly $16 million project should be done by October 2014.
