State Rep. Tina Davis (D- 141) announced Monday she will seek re-election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, according to a release from her office.
Calling upon residents of her now expanded district Davis asked said she will “continue the fight for more jobs, more state funding for schools to provide local tax relief, and greater accountability from Harrisburg.”

Davis is seeking a third term in office as she’s been representing the 141st district since 2010.
“In my three years in Harrisburg I have made it my mission to fight for the middle class, senior citizens and children, who have been hit so hard by this economic downturn” said Davis.
“People who have never needed help before are reaching out for the first time and too many lawmakers in Harrisburg have turned a blind eye” Davis said adding, “I am here to make sure these people have a strong voice.”

Davis points to her record since she was elected in 2010 and said she plans to continue working tirelessly for those in the district and a better Pennsylvania.

-Fulfilled a promise not to accept per diem payments or a state car.
-Co-sponsored and voted for the property tax independence act. This bill would have eliminated school real estate taxes and funded schools in a fairer, income-based way.
- Fought for taxpayers when she voted against Governor Tom Corbett’s massive gas tax hike.

-Stood up for Pennsylvania’s schools and was a leading opponent of Governor Tom Corbett’s $1 billion in cuts to education.
- Authored or coauthored significant legislation including a bill to educate children about the dangers of social media and online activities, legislation to stop fraudulent online sweepstakes frauds (which became law), and legislation banning gifts to legislators.

Davis recently has been working on getting two bills she’s written the Revenge Porn Bill and Scrap Metal Bill to votes.
Locally the Revenge Porn Bill has gained momentum with many in the public asking questions about the he specifics of the bill. Davis’s Scrap Metal Bill has yet to be heard by the Consumer Affairs Committee, but she remains hopeful the bill getting out of committee and to the floor for a vote.

One of the main criticisms Davis has faced, and continues to do so, relates to her time served on the Bristol Township Council over five years. Which has led to rumors since after Election day 2013 that she would be face a Democratic primary opponent.
The name most frequently bandied about is Bristol Twp. Councilwoman, Democrat Amber Longhitano.

Longhitano has said in the past she’s been contacted about running against Davis, however, she has made “no decision as of yet” she told LevittownNow.com on earlier on Monday.
Longhitano said for now she didn’t want to comment any further, but sources indicate she has been contacted by potential donors if she decided to run.
“Well I’m kicking off the campaign tomorrow,” Davis said in response to queries about someone challenging her, Adding, “I’m going work day and night for my constituents as I’ve done since being elected to Harrisburg,” in response to being told she might have a primary race to run first.

“Its a citizens right to run for office” she added, “I encourage everyone to get involved in running for a political office,” Davis said Monday afternoon
Sources who asked not be identified said “taking Amber off of council is the long game here, that’s what they really hoping for. Facing her off against Davis does that, the source opined.

Davis said of her tenure in office, “I am proud of what I’ve accomplished. But I also understand that we’ve got a long way to go before we get everyone back on their feet and solidify our future.”
Davis is a 1983 graduate of LaSalle University with a degree in computer science. She and her husband, Jim, have three children, James, Taylor and Cameron, the release says.
As of press time, it is not known whether Davis will have a challenger to face from the Republican side in November.
