Code Blue Issued for Weekend

Bucks County officials issued a “Code Blue” declaration for the weekend.

Please note on call sites begin taking in visitors at 9 p.m with scheduled pick ups in the Lower Bucks area beginning at 9 p.m.

County emergency management and health department officials said the Code Blue starts Saturday at 7 p.m. and will go until 7 a.m. Monday.

The declaration was made for a weekend when forecasts showed a period of below freezing temperatures and some snow.

The on-call shelters are coordinating transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities.

County Emergency Management Director Scott Forster and Health Director Dr. David Damsker have notified local public safety officials of the Code Blue declaration. They advise all residents to be aware of the severe anticipated weather conditions. Please exercise caution if you need to be outside, and stay indoors as much as possible. the release says.

The community is asked to check in on older adults during the period of dangerous weather and that precautionary measures should be taken with pets too.

Advocates for The Homeless and Needy are offering two volunteer training’ to help at the local Code Blue on-call sites.

Sunday a training will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  at the First United Methodist Church, 840 Trenton Rd,  Fairless Hills, PA and on Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. which will be the last training of the year.
