The Bucks County Democratic Party announced on Thursday it’s looking for new blood to add to the party with its quest for legislative candidates for the upcoming May primaries and November elections.
“It’s time we opened up the political process to everyone,” Bucks County Democratic Party Chairman John F. Cordisco said Wednesday. The Party is seeking a “new crop of qualified, energized and committed candidates for the Pennsylvania legislature.”

“The Democratic Party needs fresh ideas and a new group of candidates,” Cordisco said. “We need people who are willing to shake up the status quo and bring much needed change to our legislature,” according to a release from the party.
According to law, candidates for the Pennsylvania House and Senate must:
1. be at least 21 years old (25 years old for State Senate);
2. reside in Pennsylvania for at least four years; and
3. reside within the district for at least one year.

Cordisco said the party was meeting with new and prospective candidates on an ongoing basis and urged interested parties to contact the Bucks County Democratic Committee at (215) 348-2140 or send an email to bcdc.recruiting@gmail.com.
Deadline for filing candidate nominating petitions is March 11, 2014.
