PECO has thousands of employees and contractors working throughout the region to restore power Thursday evening.
As of 7:30 p.m., around 25,000 customers are without power in the Levittown area. That number is down from about 30,000 at noon.

With thousands of people without their electric heat, officials said they were concerned as temperatures dropped below freezing by nightfall.
More than 3,500 workers scattered throughout PECO’s coverage zone toiling to restore power service, officials said. The utility’s emergency response teams are active and focusing on power restoration.

PECO spokesperson Cathy Engel Menendez said they company hopes to have the majority of customers back on the grid by the weekend but noted it may take longer for some.
Area school districts said they are continuing to evaluate the power situation and how it may impact classes for Thursday. As of press time, several district’s still have school building with out power.

The Tuesday night and Wednesday morning ice storm brought extensive damage to trees, tree limbs and electrical equipment. Menendez said the storm has already has become the second most damaging storm in PECO history and power problems were still occurring as of late Wednesday.

PECO urges customers to stay safe and always stay away from any storm damaged electrical equipment, especially downed power lines and tree limbs that may come into contact with power lines. Always consider that downed electrical wires are energized and report them to the company immediately. Customers should check on their neighbors, family and friends, and assist the elderly and those with special needs.
PECO customers who experience an outage or issue with their natural gas service should call the company immediately via their tipline at 1-800-841-4141.
