Oscar Winning Actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead

Oscar Winning Actorย Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment this morning, the New York Times and ABC News are reporting.

Hoffman was found dead by a friend, who became concerned when she could not reach him. He was found with a hypodermic needle in his arm, which New York Police officials have said looks to be an apparent drug overdose, reports say.

The cause of death has yet to be determined with an investigation under way, officials told the New York Times.

Hoffman, 46, won the Best Actor Academy Award ย for hisย portrayalย of Truman Capote in “Capote” in 2005.ย 

He was also ย nominated for three Best Supporting Actor Oscars, for “The Master,” “Doubt,” and “Charlie Wilson’s War.”

According to USA Today, Hoffman completed a 10 day stay in May for substance abuse treatment.
