Cops: Man Threatens Woman and Children Before Raping Her


The new year started with Bristol Township police responding to a report of a rape.

The victim reported the rape on New Year’s Day to police. She told them she invited ย Jon Schwegler, 25, of Croydon,ย to her apartment to spend the festive evening with her. She picked him up at 9:30 p.m. and then her children from a relative’s home, police said.

After puttingย her children to bed, the victim watched the New Year’s celebrations on TV with ย . Shortly after the ball dropped and the New Year was brought in, Schwegler said he had “feelings” and made “sexual comments” to the woman with increasing intensity, according to court documents.

The woman told Schwegler they were friends and she wasn’t interested in him in that way, police said. The defendant reportedly continued with the sexually laden statements becoming increasingly more aggressive with each passing moment.

Schwegler grabbed the victim by her ย hair and sexually assaulted her, according to police. Telling her heโ€™d burn her apartment and kill her children if she screamed, authorities said.

After Schwegler sexually assaulted the woman by forcing her to perform orally on him and penetrating her, ย he went outside to smoke a cigarette and the woman called police, court records say.

Schwegler initially told police the sex was consensual, however, during a second interview of the suspect he then told police some of the sexual contact was consensual and some wasn’t telling police he screwed up, He also admitting to raping the victim and threatening her children, according to court documents.

Schwegler was arrested Saturday on charges of rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent assault and terroristic threats. He was sent to Bucks County jail in lieu of 10 percent of $500,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Bristol Borough District Court on January 15.
