The county owns and insures seven covered bridges. In total, there are 12 lattice truss covered bridges throughout the county, all in the central and upper part of the county.

Bucks County’s covered bridges bring tourists to the area. The region relies on tourism to help power the economy.

The county website noted in 2009 that fires, trucks ignoring the weight and height limits and vandals have caused issues on covered bridges in the past. About a decade ago, Mood’s Bridge in East Rockhill was destroyed in an arson fire set by six college students. The fire caught the attention of region and the bridge was rebuilt in 2008.
