Bristol Borough firefighters on Monday around 5:30 p.m. responded to a call of gas fumes at the Harbour Lights Apartments on Radcliffe Street.
What they found there on the night before Christmas Eve was “disturbing,” a fire official said. The gas odor emanating from buildings B and C, according to scanner reports, occurred because a senior citizen living there was running the gas stove ย on full blast because they claimed to have no heat or water.

America Hose, Hook and Ladder Companyย was dispatched for the call, a resident said.
Fire crews had complex maintenance come out and fix the pilot on the stove, which was burning to supply a heat source, a resident, who asked not to be identified, said.
“We haven’t had heat or h0t water for approximately ย two weeks,” aย second resident told LevittownNow.com on Tuesday. The resident said they had noย idea why the utility was not working. “I’ve called the maintenance office several times asking to speak to management and no one has called me back.”

According to the residents, the company that owns the property ย in a letter circulated to residentsย has offered to be placed them in local hotels or the management company would buy heaters for them.
“Who wants to do that on Christmas?,” said one resident.ย “I’m supposed to have family here for dinner. Think they’re coming with this going on?”
Standing just outside the building firefighters responded to Monday night, a resident bundled up with multiple layers of sweaters said they were waiting for a replacement stove to be moved into their apartment because a pilot light went out on their stove also.

“It’s warmer out here than it is in there” they said. A maintenance employee refused to answer questions and referred a reporter to call the office to contact property management.
Calls placed to Harbor Lights contact numbers have gone unanswered and messages were left.
