To thunderous applause rarely heard at public meetings when discussing budgets, the Bristol Wardogs Unlimited Football team were honored Thursday night by Bristol Township Council for bringing home a title.

A Resolution of Commendation ย for ย the football team ย for winning the 2013 UYFL National Championship was approved unanimously.

The team came home from Tampa, Florida a little over a week ago, bringing back the title in hand.

The team is based out of the township municipal complex and serves the youth of Bristol and surrounding communities also.

Council President Bob Lewis read the resolution into the record which highlighted not only success of the team but its accomplishments in teaching its youth the value of sportsmanship, community service, and teamwork.

The Wardog Mighty Mites and pee wee teams also garnered honorable mention for their success’ during the 2013 football season

Lewis whose brother, Bill, coached for the Miami Dolphins, ย said the Wardogs Athletic Association is a credit to the township for their ย contribution to the community and its youth and how the organizations success will pay off for ย years to come for the township and the youth participating.

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, who was unable to attend the meeting Thursday night honored the Wardogs in a letter he penned that was read by Lewis aloud.

Both council and the congressman said they were honored by the sacrifice and commitment of the coaches, parents ย and staff made to the youth of the area.
