SNOWPRISE: Storm Causes Problems on Roads

Municipal roads and state highways were covered with snow even hours after the flakes began falling from the sky on Sunday.

Roughly three inches of snow were reported in Levittown by 5 p.m.

Several accidents and weather-related emergencies took place. Readers reported accidents on Route 13, Veterans Highway (Route 413) ย I-95 and conditions on Levittown Parkway

Driving along Levittown Parkway and all along ย New Falls Road were treacherous at times with vehicles slipping and sliding at a number of intersections.

Street Road in Bensalem was at a complete standstill due to snowy conditions and Maple Avenue (Route 213) in Middletown and Langhorne was not much better. Route 1 through Middletown and I-95 in Croydon were partially snow covered as of 3 p.m. Media reports indicated that PennDOT crews were headed out on the roads.

Scanner reports indicated large numbers of emergency calls during the storm.

A Saturday night forecast showed the area getting little to no accumulating snow. On Sunday morning, the forecast was updated to show that several inches were expected.
