It wasn’t Santa and his reindeer on the roof of a Middletown dance studio Thursday morning. Police say it was a Bensalem man who was trying to steal copper.

John Fallon III, 27, was arrested early Thursday morning after the owner of Release Dance Academy on New Falls Road called police to report noises that sounded like a person on the roof of the building. Then, according to court papers, the man heard the sound of something dragging across the roof.

Responding officers arrived and discovered Fallon behind the building with copper and bolt cutters, police said.

A detective wrote in court papers that they discovered the 27-year-old with a bag filled copper. A roof inspection by a patrol officer revealed a air conditioner had copper taken from it. The damage was valued at more than $5,500.

Fallon was arraigned by District Judge John Kelly Jr. on charges of criminal mischief, theft and loitering and prowling at night. He was sent to county lockup on 10 percent of $200,000 bail.
