A 31-year-old man was charged last week after an investigation uncovered he stole more than $7,500 worth of equipment from a construction site.

Bristol Borough resident Michael Dugan was charged with felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property.  He was arraigned before District Judge Donald Nasshorn and sent to county jail on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

Newtown Township police were called to the a  Twining Construction site Durham Road in Wrightstown for thefts from vehicles in August. At the scene, police said they discovered roughly $7,500 in items missing. A $2,000 generator and a $1,000 laser level were among the missing items.

Detective Jason Harris searched a national database of stolen property in September and discovered the generator was sold to a pawn shop. Further investigation revealed the 31-year-old had sold other “high-dollar construction equipment” to other pawn shops, according to a press release from authorities.

The case was turned over to Detective Charles Palko Jr. and an arrest warrant was issued. Dugan was transported to the Newtown police station last Tuesday from the Wernersville Correctional Center in Berks County.

Dugan was currently on parole and most recently was cited for disorderly conduct by state police in Reading last month.

Newtown Township police handled the case because they provide police protection to Wrightstown.
