Pennsbury graduate Matthew Schuler is in the top 12 on the NBC’s “The Voice.” The announcement came during a live broadcast Thursday night.
A performance of Miley Cyrus’ hit song “Wrecking Ball” on Tuesday night scored Schuler, 20, enough votes from fans to move forward on the hit television singing competition.

Schuler will now move forward on judge Christina Aguilera’s team and perform on live television again.
His Tuesday night performance garnered praise both on the show and off. The judges told him they enjoyed his performance and at least one Hollywood gossip site said Schuler’s performance of the song was better than Cyrus’ original version, which has gone on to be a pop hit.
“He has a magic about him that shines through every time he is on stage,”Aguilera said on Thursday night’s show.

Aguilera said Tuesday that Schuler has brought “charisma” to the show.
The Lower Makefield resident and West Chester University student made show history for the quickest time that all four judges hit their buttons during the auditions round. A hit of the button means they wanted Schuler on their team during his cover of Young the Giant’s 2011 hit single “Cough Syrup.”
