About 10 Back-to-back phone calls from a 5-year-old boy drew a large amount of fire crews to the Croydon section of Bristol Township Wednesday.
Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said the child first called to report a house fire on Nancy Drive and then called back to report various other fires. In turn, several fire trucks from Croydon and surrounding fire companies responded to the street, some with lights and sirens activated.

Scanner radio traffic heard by LevittownNow.com reveals that police and fire officials searched the street and were not able to find any blaze. More calls were coming in as first responders staged on the residential street.
All the calls came within a roughly 15 minute period on Wednesday.
Using a variety of methods, the fire marshal was able to track down the address and find the boy making the calls. The boy was making the calls from a Nancy Drive home.

Dippolito said it was determined the boy was making the calls using his mother’s cell phone while she was in another section of the house. He added that the mother was not aware the boy was making the reports.
As of Thursday morning, no charges have been filed in the case. Dippolito said the boy’s parents will likely be taking care of the child’s punishment.

Dippolito said false emergency calls tie up fire service resources if an emergency were to happen at the same time. Traveling on local roads are emergency speeds to get to those calls also puts the lives of firefighters and civilians at risk, he added.
