A Middletown woman is accused of punching a Giant Food Store loss prevention officer in the head after he confronted her on accusations she  stole nail polish and related items Saturday at the Levittown store.

Middletown officers were dispatched to the store at 8:08 p.m. for reports that a theft suspect had fled the store in a Mazada. The license plate number of the fleeing car came back to a Breanna Grillo, 22, of Highland Park.

The store security officer told police that Grillo stuffed around $45 worth of nail polish, nail files and fake stick-on nails into her purse, court papers say. Police added that the 22-year-old then went to a cashier and paid for two additional items.

The Giant security officer tried to stop Grillo as she left the store, however, she began to act as if the man was robbing her, police said.

The security officer called 9-1-1 and continued to try to get Grillo to stop. She continued and punched him in the temple when he stepped in front of her, police said. The security officer said her fist was closed and she had keys in her hand, court documents say.

Grillo was arrested by police and arraigned before Judge Jan Vislosky on charges of robbery, simple assault and related offenses. She posted 10 percent of $15,000 bail and was released.
