A police officer responding to a possible underage drinking party discovered a 40-year-old man laying on the ground with his feet hanging onto Queen Anne Drive in Falls Township’s Levittown section.

Edward Mellor, who has no listed address, was charged Saturday with simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was arraigned before District Judge Bill Benz and sent to county jail on 10 percent of $10,000.

As the officer tired to put Mellor in the rear of patrol vehicle at around 2 a.m., he attempted to headbutt the lawman in the face, police said. The 40-year-old also tried to kick the officer, police added.

Mellor is also alleged to have made several verbal threats to the officer and tried to head to break the back window on the police vehicle, court papers say. At the police station, Mellor asked the officer to take his handcuffs off so he could fight the patrolman.

When the officer arrived and tried to wake Mellor, the 40-year-old responded with, “F**k you, p***y,” according to an affidavit of probable cause. The officer reported that the man also told him to “get the f**k away.”

Mellor had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath, police said. The 40-year-old was “aggressive” and raiseed his voice before attempting to attack the officer, police reported.
