All her kids wanted to do was play video games, she said, testifying against her ex boyfriend Wednesday at a preliminary hearing in front of Magistrate Frank W. Peranteau, Sr.

Jame McCoy, ย her ex, ย sat idly in his prison-issued orange jump suit, as his former girlfriend described in detail the events leading up to his alleged attack on her last summer.

In a wavering voice at times, drowned out by the overhead air conditioning in the courtroom, the victim told how McCoy and her brother had been drinking vodka all day and playing video games at her apartment in the Glen Hollow complex.

According to Bristol Township police, on August 28, 2012, they were called to the complex for a report of an unknown problem, court records say. Upon arrival, the victim told officers, that McCoy pulled her hair, choked her and punched her in the face repeatedly while she lay prone on her bed. ย Additionally, the affidavit says, McCoy ย slammed ย her youngest son’s head into a wall.

McCoy, court records say, ย fled the scene on foot. Although police executed an exhaustive search for him, he was not located. Police interviewed the victim noting her eye was “swollen shut” with a laceration on the inside of her mouth.

McCoy’s public defender, Ann Faust , attempted to establish that the victim had an argument with another woman earlier in the day about McCoy, but the argument was shot down by the prosecutor.

Faust did move for the disorderly conduct charges to be dismissed, which Peranteau agreed with to lack of evidence to sustain that charge.

Peranteau ruled there was enough evidence for McCoy to brought to trial and set his next court date for arraignment on September 20 in the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.

In a related case, McCoy will be appearing at the court of common pleas on August 23 for a separate case involving the same woman on a simple assault and harassment offenses.
