Mosquito Spraying Set for Falls as Infected Bug Found in Bristol Twp.

As county Health Department officials prepare to spray for adult mosquitoes Wednesday in several parts of Falls Township, the state announced this week that a another mosquito in Bristol Township has tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Spraying in Falls will take place Wednesday evening between 7:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. and is dependent of favorable weather.

Crews will spray the following streets: Auburn Road, Beaumont Road, Chatham Road, Dunedin Road, Lebbie Lane, Brentwood Road, Stanwood Road, Dunbury Road, Eldridge Road, Fairfield Road, Glenmar Road, and Hanford Road.

The chemical Duet Dual-Action Adulticide will be spread throughout the neighborhoods by a “ultra low volume truck mounted sprayer at a rate of one ounce per acre,” officials said. The two trucks to be used during the operation will be a green Chevrolet truck with the County of Bucks seal on the side, as well as a blue Ford Ranger pickup truck also with the county seal visible.

Aside from this the West Nile Virus positive mosquito this week, two mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile Virus in Bristol Township and three in Falls recently. State officials did not release the location of the infected insects.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in five people with West Nile Virus will show symptoms, with less than 1 percent developing the most serious illness.
